When OCD and Anxiety Take Over Your Inner World
OCD often isn’t about visible compulsions; it’s about constant doubt and feeling at war with your mind.
You may be dealing with:
Feeling stuck in self-doubt and “what if” thinking
Intrusive thoughts that feel disturbing or urgent
Getting trapped in mental loops of ruminating, analyzing, checking, or seeking reassurance
OCD latching onto identity questions, making self-understanding feel unsafe
This can include harm OCD, moral scrupulosity, false memory OCD, existential OCD, contamination OCD, sensorimotor OCD, and “pure O” OCD.
My approach is collaborative, validating, and grounded in understanding— not pathologizing— your lived experience.
How I Help: I-CBT + ACT Therapy for OCD and Anxiety
Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) helps you understand how OCD doubt becomes activated and why certain situations feel threatening even when there’s no real danger. Instead of engaging with every intrusive thought, we shift focus to your reasoning process, reduce mental checking, and help you exit the “What if?” mind trap. Many clients describe I-CBT as gentler and more intuitive than traditional ERP.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) teaches you how to relate differently to anxiety— without getting pulled into avoidance, self-judgment, or rigid coping strategies. You’ll learn to create space from intrusive thoughts, respond with compassion, and take values-based action even when anxiety shows up. Together, these approaches offer both structure and flexibility.
Who I Work With
I work with folks with OCD and anxiety across Virginia who are seeking therapy that is empowering, affirming, and informed by lived experience. My clients often include:
Those experiencing doubts about queer or trans identity
Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise ND folks living with OCD
Individuals whose OCD is impacted by your trauma history
People who feel misunderstood or minimized in past therapy spaces
My practice prioritizes warmth, clarity, authenticity, and empowerment.
