Answers to common questions about OCD therapy, I-CBT, virtual sessions, fees, and getting started.
About OCD Therapy
-
OCD therapy with me is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT). We’ll work together to understand how obsessive doubt shows up for you, recognize the reasoning patterns that keep it going, and reconnect with your own knowledge and experience.
-
Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) is a specialized approach to OCD that focuses on how obsessive doubt develops and how OCD can pull you away from what you actually know through your direct experience. Rather than treating each OCD theme as a separate problem, I-CBT helps you recognize the reasoning patterns that keep obsessive doubt going.
-
My OCD therapy practice is grounded in Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), rather than Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). If you’re specifically looking for ERP, I’m happy to help you determine whether another provider may be a better fit.
-
Yes. OCD can focus on relationships, harm, sexuality, gender identity, morality, memories, and many other areas of life. I don’t treat these as separate types of OCD— the theme can change, while the underlying process of obsessive doubt often remains similar.
-
Yes. OCD doesn’t always involve visible behaviors. Mental reviewing, analyzing, comparing, checking, researching, and trying to figure out what thoughts or feelings mean can all become part of the OCD cycle. I-CBT can help you understand these patterns without assuming that your OCD has to look a certain way.
Who I Work With
-
I work with adults and teens ages 16 and older. Therapy is individualized to your needs, communication style, and goals.
-
Not at all. My practice is affirming of LGBTQIA+ identities, neurodivergence, disability, and non-monogamy, but you don't need to identify with any of these communities to work with me. What matters most is finding a therapist who feels like a good fit for you.
-
Yes. OCD rarely exists in isolation, and your broader experiences and concerns can be part of our work together. OCD is my primary area of specialization, and therapy can make space for the other things you're navigating as well.
-
You don't need to diagnose yourself before reaching out. A consultation can be a chance to talk about what you've been experiencing, ask questions about my approach, and decide together whether OCD therapy with me seems like a good fit.
Virtual Therapy & Locations
-
I provide virtual therapy to clients located in Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, and Vermont. Because licensure and telehealth rules vary by state, you must be physically located in a state where I’m authorized to provide therapy at the time of your session.
-
No. I currently provide therapy exclusively through secure virtual sessions. This allows me to work with clients throughout the states where I’m authorized to practice while offering therapy from the privacy and comfort of your own space.
-
At this time, I can only provide therapy to clients who are physically located in a state where I’m authorized to practice. If you live elsewhere, I recommend looking for an OCD therapist licensed in your state.
